The proof that Indian cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a large female following was visible on Valentine’s Day as many young women gathered outside his residence here and presented cards and roses to his relatives, as he was not in the city.
The women, who gathered outside the Indian cricket captain’s house under the banner of the Dhoni Fan Club, shouted slogans such as “Dhoni is our Valentine. We love you Dhoni”.
The fans were carrying posters, cards and roses to present to the relatives of Dhoni.
“We love Dhoni from the bottom of our heart. We came here to express our feeling and love for Dhoni,” said Alka Das.
Echoing her view, Supriya, another fan, said: “It is sad that Dhoni is not in Ranchi on Valentine’s Day. We miss him”.
There were sporadic incidents of violence here Saturday connected to Valentine’s Day.
Members of Hindu right wing group Sri Ram Sene caught lovers in Nakshtra Van park and Fish Park situated near the governor’s house. The lovers were asked to hold their ears and apologise
