Movie Review of English Vinglish
Known for films like, `Mr India`, `Chandni` and `Lamhe`, Sridevi is back on silver screen with `English Vinglish` after a long sabbatical of 15 years. She was last seen in 1994 film, `Laadla` opposite Anil Kapoor.
Sridevi who plays a de-glam character of `Shashi Godbole`, a middle-aged Maharashtrian housewife in Gauri Shinde`s film, `English Vinglish`, is passionate about making ladoos and earns money out of her small business. The character of Shashi is very relatable and many Indian housewives will definitely identify themselves with her character, who does everything for their family without even complaining once, but are not given the due respect in return just because they are a housewife and cannot speak English fluently.
Shashi faces the same situation in the film. Her husband, played by Adil Hussain, and her little daughter who studies in 7th classs, do not respect her real talent and are ashamed to introduce her to people around them.
Director Gauri Shinde has very intelligently introduced the character of Shashi in the film and thus relating with Sridevi`s character becomes more easier.
Shashi then flies to New York for five weeks to help in her neice`s wedding, (played by Priya Anand), where she decides to join a crash course in English after facing an embarrasing situation in a cafe where she is not able to place her order.
Soon, Shashi becomes a dedicated student, does all her homework and starts watching English films at night to brush up her skills in the language.
Meanwhile, Shashi`s classmate- a Frenchman named Laurent, played by Mehdi Nebbou, gets attracted towards Shashi`s simple personality, and asks her out for coffee but his attempts go in vain as Shashi, is the ideal Indian wife and mother.
Slowly and gradualy Shashi masters her skills in the foreign language, leaving a clear message that complete dedication can definitely lead to success, which proves inspiring for aspirants wanting to master the language.
Gauri Shinde clearly deserves applause for writting such a simple and unique storyline and directing it beautifully.
This film gives a clear message that being a mother and wife is not a small role. The lady takes care of her family which forms a base of a good society, but this is a thankless job.
Anupam Kher who called Sridevi `original queen of cinema`, in his recent tweet, was definitely right in all ways as the actress is back with a bang. She deserves kudos for portraying the character of `Shashi` flawlessly, making it so close to reality with her innocence. Other cast members - Adil Hussain, Mehdi Nebbou, Priya Anand have also done a good job.
Amitabh Bachchan makes a guest appearance in the film, which leaves you wanting for more.
So, go out and watch `English Vinglish` as this film is a complete family entertainer.

Salman to Romance Katrina Again
So, Sonakshi Sinha has opted out from Salman Khan’s upcoming fim Kick. Now, if rumors are true, Salman is eager on romancing Katrina Kaif once again on-screen and yes, the role will most probably go to Katrina Kaif. Apparently, Vidya Balan was approached first, but since Vidya is keen on doing ‘Women centered roles’ she declined the offer.
Well, that has to be good news for Sallu, because since both of them share a great chemistry on-screen, and also blew all their fans with awesome performances in Ek Tha Tiger, the producers of the film are keen on casting them in the film.
As of now, Katrina is busy with other commitments, and she will decide only after reading the script.
A source said: “Salman and Katrina are presently busy with their back-to-back commitments. But after Kick and Sher Khan, Salman plans to do a film with Katrina.”
Do you think Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif look good together on-screen?

Aiyyaa move review
Let’s start with the good news. Bollywood Actress Rani Mukherjee who came back to the big screen after a long time looks great in a skimpy, black, sequined blouse. Her undulating stomach turns the heat up a notch in what is otherwise a loud and meandering comedy about a woman who falls in love with a complete stranger who smells heavenly.
Rani Mukherji gets some well-timed laughs as the slightly cuckoo, Marathi girl who fantasizes about film stars, idolizes Sridevi and co-habits a derelict house with a family that should ideally be locked up. The music is fantastic and the ‘Dreamum Wakeuppum’ song really gets you going. ‘Sava Dollar’, ‘Aga Bai’ and ‘What To Do’ aren’t bad either.
But the laughs soon dry up as you realize that there is no escaping the offensive shrillness of the characters, the lack of a cohesive story and the total silliness of ‘Aiyyaa’. Here are 5 things that will leave you cringing.
Saif Ali Khan in Police Custody again?
According to the latest development on the case, a chargesheet has been filed against the Chote Nawab by the Colaba Police (under sections 325 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and 34 for acts done by several persons in furtherance of common interest) for allegedly assaulting NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma at the Taj Mahal hotel in February this year. As per the chargesheet, the Cocktail actor will now have to appear in Court each time a hearing take place. For those who came in late, Saif was allegedly arrested after Sharma filed a complaint against him in the Colaba police station. The actor was granted bail in the mid-night brawl that took place on February 22.
There’s just a week left for Saif’s royal wedding to his longtime girlfriend, Kareena Kapoor, and we just hope the Nawab quickly overcomes the mess he’s in presently so that he could happily settle down in matrimonial bliss in the coming months.
